Neon DTF Transfers: Yellow, Green, Pink and Orange

Neon yellow, green, pink and orange DTF transfer sheets displayed beside a heat press

The wait is over: Neon DTF transfers are now available from DTF Transfers Australia in Neon Yellow, Neon Green, Neon Pink and Neon Orange.

These speciality transfers use a fluorescent-style film colour to create a much bolder result than ordinary process colour alone. They work best when the neon colour is treated as part of the design rather than added as an afterthought.

We print your artwork as a ready-to-press transfer on a 280 × 390 mm neon sheet. You select one neon film colour, arrange your artwork on the sheet and apply the finished transfers with a proper heat press.

At a glance

  • Available now: choose Neon Yellow, Neon Green, Neon Pink or Neon Orange.
  • Currently cut sheets only: neon transfers are supplied on 280 × 390 mm sheets. Gang sheets may be considered later if demand is strong and the product proves itself in regular use.
  • One neon film colour per sheet: the selected fluoro base becomes part of the artwork’s appearance.
  • Cold peel: allow the transfer to cool completely before removing the carrier.
  • Heat press required: these are not household-iron or Iron-On DTF products.
  • Bold artwork works best: strong lettering, silhouettes, numbers and simple graphic shapes make effective use of the neon colour.
  • Test before production: speciality film, garments and heat presses vary, particularly on polyester and heat-sensitive fabrics.

Neon DTF transfers are available now

The original version of this article announced that we were preparing to introduce 300 mm neon film rolls. The film has now arrived, testing and setup have been completed, and the customer offer has been finalised.

Rather than selling raw rolls, we use the film in our Coorparoo workshop to produce custom, ready-to-press neon DTF transfers. Customers order a 280 × 390 mm sheet, select a neon colour and upload or arrange artwork using the online designer.

This makes the product useful to apparel decorators, clubs, event organisers, dance groups, small labels and makers who want the neon effect without operating their own DTF printer or stocking a full roll of speciality film.

We are starting with cut sheets so we can assess genuine customer demand and monitor how the product performs in regular use. If the neon range proves itself and there is enough demand, we will consider adding neon gang sheets in the future. There is no confirmed gang-sheet release or timetable at this stage.

What is neon DTF film?

Neon DTF film is a speciality carrier with a fluorescent-style colour that becomes part of the finished transfer. Standard DTF normally builds an opaque white base beneath process colour. With neon film, the chosen Yellow, Green, Pink or Orange base supplies the high-impact colour effect.

The design is printed and prepared on the speciality film, then supplied as a ready-to-press transfer. During application, heat and pressure bond the design to a suitable garment. After the transfer cools completely, the carrier is removed and the design is given its finishing press.

Neon is most effective when the coloured film is allowed to do the visual work. A bold single-colour silhouette, name or number often communicates the effect more clearly than complex artwork filled with competing colours.

The four available neon colours

Film colourVisual characterIdeas to test
Neon YellowSharp, bright and highly noticeableBold lettering, numbers, event graphics and energetic accents
Neon GreenElectric and energeticSports-inspired graphics, music merchandise and statement logos
Neon PinkStrong, playful and fashion-ledDancewear, celebration shirts, brand drops and bold typography
Neon OrangeWarm, punchy and high impactTeam names, event graphics, retro styling and promotional apparel

Each sheet uses one selected neon film colour. If a design requires two different neon colours, plan them as separate sheets and transfers. Check alignment and layering through your own testing before using more than one speciality transfer in the same design.

Purple is not part of our current neon range, even if it appears in a manufacturer’s wider colour chart or an overseas supplier’s imagery.

What you order and receive

Our neon product is a 280 × 390 mm custom cut sheet. You can place one large design on the sheet or arrange several smaller designs, provided they fit and leave enough room to cut them apart.

You are ordering printed, cured and ready-to-press transfers—not a raw roll of film. The sheet is prepared in our Brisbane workshop from the artwork and colour selection supplied through the product designer.

Designing artwork for neon DTF transfers

Start by deciding where the neon colour should appear. The effect is strongest when the shape remains clear at the intended print size.

Artwork that suits neon film

  • bold names, numbers and team lettering;
  • single-colour silhouettes and icons;
  • simple logos with strong shapes;
  • retro, music, dance and event graphics;
  • outlines and accents that remain thick enough to produce and press reliably; and
  • several small motifs arranged on one 280 × 390 mm sheet.

Artwork that needs more care

Very fine lines, tiny lettering and scattered specks are harder to produce and apply reliably. Complex full-colour artwork may also obscure the very neon colour you chose the product to create.

Supply a transparent PNG at the final print size, ideally at 300 DPI. Crop the file tightly, keep each printable element at least 4 pixels or approximately 1 mm wide, and check spelling, orientation and quantities before submitting. Files are printed as supplied.

Our DTF artwork requirements and FAQs provide more detail about resolution, transparency and print-ready sizing.

Choosing a suitable garment

Neon colour is only one part of the finished result. The garment must also tolerate the required heat and pressure and provide a suitable surface for adhesion.

Test the exact garment style and colour before production. Consider:

  • Fabric composition: cotton, polyester and blends respond differently to heat.
  • Garment colour: assess the contrast between the neon film and the fabric under normal lighting.
  • Surface texture: mesh, heavy ribbing and uneven knits may prevent consistent contact.
  • Raised construction: seams, zips, pockets and collars can interfere with pressure.
  • Heat sensitivity: polyester, coatings and some performance fabrics can mark, distort or suffer dye migration.

Do not approve a garment based only on its fibre label. Two items marked “100% polyester” can react differently because of their dye, knit, finish and construction.

Applying cold-peel neon DTF transfers

Neon DTF is a speciality cold-peel product. It does not use the immediate peel method supplied with standard Insta-Peel gang sheets.

The following is general starting guidance for our cold-peel speciality transfers. Heat presses and garments vary, so test before production and follow the current instructions supplied with your order.

SettingStarting guidance
Temperature160–175°C
Initial press15–20 seconds
PressureEven pressure established through testing
PeelAllow to cool completely to room temperature, then peel
Finishing press10–20 seconds at the same temperature through a clean cover sheet
  1. Prepare the garment. Lint-roll where appropriate and pre-press until the print area is flat and no steam remains.
  2. Position the transfer. Place the printed adhesive side against the garment with the carrier facing upwards.
  3. Add a cover sheet. Use clean baking paper, parchment paper or a suitable Teflon sheet without moving the design.
  4. Apply the initial press. Use the settings established for the exact garment and transfer.
  5. Cool completely. Move the garment carefully to a flat surface and wait until it reaches room temperature.
  6. Peel slowly. Keep the carrier low and close to the fabric. If part of the design lifts, stop, replace the film and repress.
  7. Complete the finishing press. Cover the exposed design and press again using the tested settings.

Read our complete cold-peel speciality fitting instructions before pressing customer garments. These transfers are not suitable for a household iron or Cricut EasyPress-style application.

What neon DTF is—and is not

Speciality finish names can create incorrect expectations. Neon DTF should be selected for its bright fluorescent-style appearance.

FinishWhat creates the effectWhat to expect
NeonBright coloured speciality filmA strong fluorescent-style colour in normal light
Glow in the darkLight-charging luminous materialA visible glow after exposure to suitable light; dark printed colours can reduce the glow
ReflectiveMaterial that returns light towards its sourceA bright response when illuminated from an appropriate angle
Standard DTFProcess-colour ink over an opaque baseDetailed full-colour printing without a speciality neon-film effect

Neon DTF is not glow in the dark and it is not reflective. A bright-looking transfer also does not make a garment certified high-visibility or safety apparel. Do not use the visual effect as a substitute for materials and garment systems specified by an applicable workplace or safety standard.

Practical uses for neon DTF transfers

Neon can work particularly well when a design needs a clear visual identity rather than subtle colour reproduction. Possible applications include:

  • dance-school and performance shirts;
  • music merchandise and limited apparel releases;
  • event names, dates and participant numbers;
  • teamwear and supporter apparel after garment testing;
  • brand accents, chest logos and sleeve details;
  • retro-inspired graphics and statement typography; and
  • promotional shirts where a bold visual effect is more important than photographic colour.

A test sheet is useful before committing to a full garment range. View the actual transfer under the lighting in which it will be worn or sold; screens cannot reproduce the physical appearance of a fluorescent material accurately.

Common neon DTF mistakes to avoid

  • Ordering it as a gang sheet: the current neon product is a 280 × 390 mm speciality cut sheet. Gang sheets are only a possible future addition.
  • Expecting several neon colours from one film: select one neon base colour per sheet.
  • Using standard Insta-Peel instructions: neon speciality film must cool completely before peeling.
  • Trying to apply it with an iron: a proper heat press is required.
  • Hiding the neon beneath complex colour: design deliberately so the fluorescent-style base remains visible.
  • Skipping the garment test: adhesion, heat marking and dye migration must be assessed on the exact blank.
  • Assuming the screen colour is exact: monitors and ordinary website images cannot accurately reproduce a physical fluoro effect.
  • Treating neon as safety certification: a bright appearance alone does not make a garment compliant high-visibility workwear.

Frequently asked questions

Are neon DTF transfers available now?

Yes. DTF Transfers Australia currently offers Neon Yellow, Neon Green, Neon Pink and Neon Orange custom DTF transfer sheets.

What size is a neon DTF sheet?

The current product is a 280 × 390 mm cut sheet. You can place one design or several smaller motifs on the sheet if they fit with enough cutting space.

Can I order a neon DTF gang sheet by the metre?

Not currently. Neon is supplied as a speciality cut-sheet product, while our existing 28 cm and 58 cm gang sheets use standard Hot Insta-Peel film. If demand is strong and the neon product proves itself through regular use, we will consider adding gang sheets later. No release date has been set.

Can I combine Yellow, Green, Pink and Orange on one sheet?

No. Each sheet uses one selected neon film colour. Order separate sheets when you need different neon colours.

Can neon DTF produce full-colour artwork?

Artwork is printed onto the selected neon base, but the speciality colour should be planned as part of the result. Bold, simpler artwork generally shows the neon effect more clearly than complex colour coverage that hides it.

Does neon DTF glow in the dark?

No. Neon film creates a bright fluorescent-style appearance in normal light. Choose our separate glow-in-the-dark product if you need a luminous effect after the material has been charged by light.

Is neon DTF reflective?

No. Reflective DTF is a separate speciality finish. Neon film is chosen for colour rather than light-return performance.

Can I apply neon DTF with a household iron?

No. Neon speciality transfers require a proper heat press and use a cold-peel application method.

Can neon DTF be applied to polyester?

It may suit some polyester garments, but testing is essential. Check heat tolerance, press marks, adhesion and dye migration before production.

Do you sell raw neon DTF film rolls?

No. We use the film to manufacture custom ready-to-press transfers. Customers order the completed 280 × 390 mm neon transfer sheet.

Order a custom neon DTF transfer sheet

Choose the neon colour first, then build artwork that gives that colour room to stand out. Keep the design bold, confirm its finished dimensions and test the transfer on the exact garment before beginning production.

When your artwork is ready, design a custom neon DTF transfer sheet in Yellow, Green, Pink or Orange. You can also compare all DTF speciality finishes before deciding which effect suits the project.

We print ready-to-press transfers in Coorparoo, Brisbane, with local pickup and Australia-wide delivery.
